Guess what happens when you stop running for a while and then decide to go for a run in weather you are not accustomed to? Pain. That's what happens. You feel pain. I took 2.5 weeks off to recover from congestion and shin splints. The good news is that I am pain free. The bad news is that while I was trying to run, my body was in a state of rebellion. It was as if it didn't recognize what I was trying to do and didn't want to do it. We did about 5 miles but I walked the back half to save what was left of my legs after the first half. I should never take a prolonged break like that ever again.
